Model ED-400 Hand-Held Eddy Current Meter Ideal for Finding Cracks in Steel Components

January 11, 2011 - Centurion NDT, a leading supplier of nondestructive inspection equipment, is now supplying their Model ED-400 Eddy Current Instrument for use in locating cracks in steel components and structures.  This patented technology enables the user to quickly locate and evaluate a crack in steel parts ranging from chassis frames to steering and brake components and engine parts.  The eddy current technique is quicker and cleaner that the magnetic particle method many automotive shops and familiar with.

The Model ED-400 is a hand-held eddy current test instrument, housed in a rugged ABS plastic enclosure.  Set-up is simple and accomplished in seconds.  The pencil probe, which is included with the unit, is scanned over the area to be inspected.  As the probe goes over a defect, the needle on the meter swings from left to right.  Amplitude of the meter can signify the relative depth of the crack.  There is no need to remove paint or other coatings.

Measuring 3.5" wide x 7.1" long and 1.9" deep and weighing just .8lb., the ED-400 is ideally suited for either portable or bench uses.  This instrument operates up to 40 hours on two "AA" alkaline batteries.  A wide selection of probes for various applications are available and manufactured by Centurion NDT ensuring high quality and repeatability.
