ED-400M Much More Friendly to the Environment

May, 2009 - Centurion NDT, a leading supplier of nondestructive inspection equipment answers the call for environmentally friendly, non-destructive test instruments.  With its patented technology, the Model ED-400M Eddy Current Test Instrumsnt determines and locates cracks and flaws faster, more economically and environmentally safer than magnetic particle inspection.

The ED-400M is a self-contained electronic instrument that offers exceptional sensitivity, making it ideal for quick, reliable crack detection.  Setting up and operating the ED-400M could hardly be easier.  Once the probe in electronicall balanced, the operator slides the probe over the inspection area keeping an eye on the easy-to-read meter.  The meter needle deflects, pinpointing the location of the flaw.  Audio and visual alarms can also be set to alert the operator.

Unlike other eddy current instruments, the ED-400M is not affected by changes in background magnetic permeability.  Thus, the tester requires no adjustment when inspecting for defects through rust, oxides, paint or other coatings.  In addition, minor movements in probe alignment during inspection does not seriously affect the meter reading.

With applications ranging from weld inspection and maintanence to receiving inspections and process control, the ED-400M is widely used to compliment or replace magnetic particle inspection methods in several industries, including automotive, construction, and oil and gas pipelines.

Measuring 5" high x 9" wide x 6" deep and weighing 5.3lb., the ED-400M is ideally suited for the most rugged environments.  Long-life rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries provide up to 50 hours of continuous operation on a single charge.  A vast selection of probes is available to meet the needs of most applications.  Special probes may also be designed to that unique sitiation.
